GC10F -- Geocache -- Topsfield, MA

24 Mar 2002

Following the signs to the Bradley Palmer State Forest, I parked in the main lot, which resulted in a long hike to the well camouflaged cache.

View Cache Description

The Park

The park is the site of the old Palmer Estate.  A few outbuildings remain.  The park has an extensive trail system, many suitable for horseback riding.

The Cache

The container is leaking, water and ice were inside, the logbook was damp but ok. I left a refrigerator magnet and CacheCards – both waterproof. Took nothing.

Lost Glove

While at the second cache, I discovered my glove was missing.  Luckily the GPS was recording my path, so I was able to find it on the reverse track.

An earlier GPS paid for itself the first time I used it. While sailing in Buzzard's Bay, my dinghy's line broke.  Several miles later, we noticed it was gone and nowhere in sight.  Using the GPS to backtrack, we found the dinghy adrift only yards off the track.
